Thank You National Sponsors of Walk MS®

April 13, 2017

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is pleased to welcome three Walk MS national sponsors this year. Thank you Genentech, Novartis and Sanofi Genzyme for their commitment to supporting communities across the country and enhancing the event experience for all Walk MS participants.

Genentech is returning for its second year as a national sponsor of Walk MS. Again in 2017, Genentech will share the “MS Voice” campaign, listening and encouraging people living with MS—and the friends and family who support them—to make their voice heard. Genentech is traveling to Walk MS events around to country to learn from participants to better understand the needs of people with MS. Genentech’s onsite video engagement at five events across the country - Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, Portland and Raleigh - will invite participants to share their thoughts and experiences living with MS.

“We applaud Genentech for ensuring that the voices of people with MS are heard through its national sponsorship of Walk MS,” said Kristin Gibbs, Vice President of Walk MS for the National MS Society. “Genentech’s generous event sponsorship supports our mission to help people with MS live their best lives.”

Novartis is proud to continue to support the MS community as a national sponsor of Walk MS for the sixth consecutive year. Novartis will be participating in Walk MS events across the country where participants can learn more about its commitment to supporting the needs of people living with MS. Through continuous research, Novartis is exploring new therapies that have the potential to advance treatment options for relapsing and progressive forms of MS.

“The continued support from Novartis helps fund cutting-edge research and life-changing services to help people with MS,” said Gibbs. “Novartis’ commitment over the years truly shows that together we are stronger.”

Sanofi Genzyme has been supporting Walk MS and the MS community for many years, and this year focused their support nationwide by becoming a national sponsor of Walk MS and the Living with MS Program – recognizing Walk MS participants that live with an MS diagnosis. Sanofi Genzyme will host a ‘Living with MS’ lounge allowing participants to relax and engage with one another at six events across the country. In addition, Walk MS participants can visit Sanofi Genzyme booths across the country to learn about their social media campaign “DemandMore”.

“We’re excited that the Walk MS experience is enhanced by Sanofi Genzyme’s sponsorship and ‘Living with MS’ Program, and look forward to the inspiration it will certainly bring to our events this year,” said Gibbs.

About Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are leading to better understanding and moving us closer to a world free of MS. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with at least two to three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease. MS affects more than 2.3 million people worldwide.
