As a contributing writer, volunteers will be responsible for gathering and organizing information from event constituents, volunteers and people living with multiple sclerosis and writing articles for MSConnection magazine. MSConnection is distributed throughout the South Central Region quarterly and available online.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Marketing Department to determine content for upcoming articles in the MSConnection. These articles might include client/constituent success stories, summaries of special programs and events or biographies.
  • Conduct interviews with National MS Society clients/constituents to obtain factual information and authentic detail to create articles for MSConnection.
  • Work with Marketing Team to write material that is consistent with the organization’s editorial guidelines and process.
  • The organization will be able to highlight and share meaningful stories of our event constituents, people living with multiple sclerosis and the special programs and services the National MS Society offers with thousands of people in the South Central Region.
  • Education and Support
  • All volunteers will receive an orientation on the National MS Society and multiple sclerosis.
  • Contributing writer(s) will meet with the Marketing team to determine a meeting schedule for the duration of the project.
  • Experience in editing and writing (AP format)
  • Strong Interviewing skills
  • Must have the ability to translate ideas and concepts into words.
  • Must be able to provide writing samples.
  • Degree in Journalism or English preferred.
Time Commitment:
  • This project is ongoing but designed to work around your schedule and requires a 3 to 5 hour commitment each month.
