CLINTON, Conn. – Jacq may be nimble, and she may be quick but Jacqueline “Jacq” Sembor is ditching the jump to, instead, run with the candle stick! Determined to make a difference, Sembor is once again partnering with Clinton’s Ceniccola’s Italian Deli and Pizzeria ring in the summer months with the second annual Jacq B Nimble, Jacq B Quick MS Pig Roast.
Sembor, who grew up in Thompson, is no stranger to the effects of multiple sclerosis, a potentially debilitating disease. In addition to two family members living with the potentially debilitating disease, she also had a high school classmate who was diagnosed with MS after beginning to experience symptoms at the young age of 10. In fact, this isn’t her first attempt at fundraising. As a teen, Sembor organized the Marianapolis Knights for Life Walk MS fundraising team in honor of her friend’s battle with the illness.
Last year, Sembor formed the Jacq B Nimble, Jacq B Quick Run MS fundraising team, and encouraged team members to dress up as nursery rhyme characters. The first pig roast added $1,500 to the team’s total of $3,000 in fundraising.
“I’m very excited to team up with Bruno Ceniccola to host the Second Annual MS Pig Roast,” said Sembor, who is looking for additional sponsors. “Our family friendly pig roast will include drawings for prizes, live music and much more.”
The Second Annual Jacq B Nimble, Jacq B Quick MS Pig Roast, presented by Ceniccola’s, will take place at Ceniccola’s in Clinton on Sunday, June 22, from noon to 4 p.m.
Lunch includes pulled pork, hamburgers and hot dogs, plenty of fixin’s and beverages, including beer and wine. Festivities feature live music, a bounce house for children and drawings for prizes, including a luxury suite rental at the New Britain Rock Cats Stadium, gifts from The Silver Dahlia, Vera Bradley and Vineyard Vines tote bags and much more. Proceeds benefit the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter.
“The first ever hog wild pig roast was also my first time organizing a fundraiser,” admitted Sembor, who has been on staff with the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter, for 16 months. “This year, I am adding to last year’s layout, getting an earlier start, and bringing in even more local talent to celebrate the start of summer.”
In addition to a full set performed by After Midnight, Connecticut’s classic rock party band, Dominika Stará, who performed at the 2014 Couture Fashion Week in New York City, will also be making a special appearance. Stará spent the last year visiting schools in the New England area speaking to students on the importance of education and positive influences in relation to pursuing their dreams. Her goal is to inspire the youth to accomplish their goals by instilling the value of staying focused and driven.
Adult tickets purchased in advance are available for a $20 donation. Adult tickets purchased at the door are available for a gift of $25. Children under 12 are free, but piggy bank donations are encouraged. Donations for tickets purchased in advance must be received no later than Monday, June 16.
Sponsors include Ceniccola’s Deli and Pizzeria, Powers Ink, of Branford; K and G Graphics, of Branford; The Hamilton Group, of Clinton; Carl’s Boned Chicken, of New Haven.
