    Adaptive Yoga: Floor Poses (Gaithersburg)

    Gentle stretches and modified poses help you gain a working knowledge of yoga and show you how to carry these approaches over into everyday activities. Participants in this class include individuals with MS, back pain, chronic pain, and those post surgery and injury. Postures and movements are explored while sitting or lying on the floor.

    Adaptive Yoga for MS (DC)

    An introduction to yoga and meditation as practical tools for managing common symptoms of MS. Appropriate for people who are ambulatory or more comfortable practicing from a chair.

  3. IN PERSON Exercise

    Adaptive Yoga for MS (Hyattsville)

    This class includes modified yoga stretches to release muscular tension (thus relieving spasticity), breathing practices, and fun. It has been reported by others with MS that doing yoga can increase body awareness; improve flexibility and strength; allow for better coordination and balance; and give the ability to better handle stress. Each class ends with a deep relaxation. Participants must be ambulatory and be able to transfer from chair to floor.

    This class will help you enhance mobility, strength and flexibility. Advanced techniques from the FallProof fall prevention program are incorporated to challenge and improve overall wellness.

    Practice yoga seated in the chair and using the chair and wall to assist in increasing balance, strength and flexibility.
