    Self Reliance

    Self Reliance, Inc. Center for Independent Living (CIL) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established in 1978. Its mission is to promote independence through empowering persons with disabilities and improving the communities in which we live. Self Reliance is a cross disability agency providing services to both children and adults with disabilities (regardless of age and type of disability) to identify and overcome barriers to independence in their lives.

  4. Treating MS

    MS Step UP

    MS Step UP is a partnership between the Mid Florida Chapter at the University of South Florida School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences. This program provides a scholarship and training for physical therapy students who will specialize in treating people with MS.

  6. IN PERSON Support and Self Help Groups

    Sarasota County Thursday Noon Self-Help Group

    Self-help groups provide a chance for individuals with MS, their families, friends and other care partners to share common experiences and concerns, provide and receive emotional support, obtain information related to the disease and on various aspects of living and coping with MS. Groups are led by people with MS, and all groups are free of charge.

  8. IN PERSON Mobility & Accessibility

    MS ID Card

    The Mid Florida Chapter offers MS Identification Cards as a service to individuals with MS. The ID will fit into your wallet and lists vital information on the front side with common symptoms of MS on the back. You may find this card useful as a reference if asked about MS or your disability. Please call 1-800-344-4867 to request your card.

    Free From Falls Part 1 (video)

    Free From Falls is a comprehensive fall prevention program for people with multiple sclerosis. This DVD provides an introduction and overview of fall risk and prevention. The target audience is people with MS who are ambulatory (alone or with a cane, walking stick or crutch). Part one of a two-part series.
