    Employment Teleconference: Federal Hiring Initiatives for People with Disabilities

    Teleconferences are designed for people to listen and learn about MS-related topics from home. The Federal Government is taking steps to become a model employer for people with disabilities. Michael Murray of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) will discuss Schedule A hiring authority and U.S. Department of Labor regulations designed to increase the employment of people with disabilities by federal government contractors.

    Manatee County Self-Help Group "Multiple Sclerosis Social Group"

    Self-help groups provide a chance for individuals with MS, their families, friends and other care partners to share common experiences and concerns, provide and receive emotional support, obtain information related to the disease and on various aspects of living and coping with MS. Groups are led by people with MS, and all groups are free of charge.

    Employment Teleconference: Home-Based Employment: What You Need to Know

    Teleconferences are designed for people to listen and learn about MS-related topics from home. Are you interested in working from home? Have you been unsuccessful in finding work –from- home positions? Home-based workers living with MS, along with MS Employment Specialist Barbara McKeon, will share tips and resources to help increase your chances of succeeding at home-based employment.

    2014 Florida Virtual Action Day

    On Thursday, March 27th, MS Activists from across the Sunshine State will gather in Tallahassee to meet with state legislators to advocate for the expansion of Medicaid and the enactment of telemedicine-friendly legislation. Help bolster their efforts by participating in the event from home! Your story will be a catalyst for change and together we will make a difference in the lives of the 20,000+ Floridians who are living with MS.

    Employment Teleconference: Social Security Disability Application Secrets

    Teleconferences are designed for people to listen and learn about MS-related topics from home. Applying for Social Security disability benefits can be a difficult and lengthy process with a high chance of being denied the first time around. Disability advocate Delores Gonzalez will share information you need to know to increase your chances of getting your application approved.

  6. TELEPHONE Symptom Management

    Southeast Region Teleconference: Overcoming Cognitive Challenges

    Teleconferences are designed for people to listen and learn about MS-related topics from home. Memory problems, difficulty concentrating and slowness in processing information are all cognitive challenges associated with MS. In this teleconference, participants will learn about the role of cognition in MS as well as information on cognitive rehabilitation and tips to help manage cognitive symptoms.

  7. IN PERSON Live Fully, Live Well

    MS Kids Camp

    A weekend-long adventure for kids ages 7 to 13 whose lives are impacted by MS. Participants will learn about MS, make friends and have fun doing "camp" activities like canoeing, archery, swimming and more. Registration opens March 17, and all application forms must be received by the chapter by April 25. Register at 1-800-344-4867.

    MS Teen Expression

    Day-long workshop for teens ages 13 to 18 whose lives are impacted by MS. Participants will share their stories, make friends, learn about MS, do team-building activities and have fun at SeaWorld!

    Southeast Region Teleconference: Alternative Therapies in MS

    Teleconferences are designed for people to listen and learn about MS-related topics from home. Alternative therapies are difficult to define and can include anything from drugs and diet to food supplements, mental exercises and lifestyle changes. This teleconference will help identify and discuss alternative options.

  10. VIDEO Employment

    MS & the Workplace: Employer Education DVD (DVD)

    Provides basic information to employers about managing the impact of MS in the work setting.
