Intern Position

Title: Community Development Intern
Immediate Supervisor: Kari Rinker, Sr. Manager, Community Development and Advocacy, Wichita, Kansas
Classification: Intern (non-paid)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate sponsorships and volunteers for Traveling Turkeys program for Fall 2014
  • Work with Snowflake Social Committee to create and coordinate program and marketing plan for Snowflake Social Holiday Party (January 2014)
  • Assist with coordination of volunteers for Bike MS 2014 (Ability to work the weekend of September 6-7, 2014 would be beneficial)
Initial Impact:
  • Coordination and execution of Traveling Turkeys program
  • Assist in the Development of Snowflake Social Holiday Party event plan
  • Assist in the coordination of Bike MS 2014 volunteers
Sustained Outcomes:
  • Completion of providing Thanksgiving meals to over 30 local families for Traveling Turkeys program
  • Increase Snowflake Social Holiday party attendance
  • Success in helping to make the National MS Society an organization of choice for Bike MS volunteers and participants
Training and Support:
Initial volunteer orientation is provided along with staff and chapter introduction.  Overview of basic office equipment required to perform this position.  Ongoing feedback and training is available from supervisor.
Office hours are Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; 15-20 hours per week (hours volunteered and day of the week are flexible and based upon assignments and volunteer availability).

  • Previous event planning experience would be a plus!
