Before graduating from St. Joseph’s Academy in Baton Rouge, Emily Zeller stayed extremely busy with school activities. Much of her time was dedicated to basketball, volleyball, or even Spanish Club. When a physical injury kept her from playing the sports she enjoyed, she looked to her mother for strength and courage – her mother who had trained to be a runner, even after being diagnosed with MS in 1997. “She does not let her MS define her and keep her from doing what she loves,” Emily says. “From my mother, I learned how to fight and to never give up. But more importantly, I learned to never let my setbacks define who I am or keep me from doing the things I love.” Now, Emily is moving on to conquer a new passion of hers as she attends Louisiana State University to get her Bachelor’s Degree in engineering.
