Medical Student Summer Clinical Fellowship in Multiple Sclerosis 2014

The Greater New England Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society announces a four-week summer clinical fellowship program to medical students who are interested in learning about this specialty area of neurology practice. Supported directly by the National MS Society, Greater New England Chapter, the summer fellowship program is recommended for students who have completed their first year of medical school. The program is, however, flexible, and qualified students enrolled in DO/MD/PhD programs who have available elective time at later stages of their training would be welcome to apply. The chapter will provide a stipend of $2,000 for the 4-week program.

This fellowship provides the opportunity to gain clinical experience and acquaint medical students with the nature of work with MS patients. It will consist of:

  • Patient contact and introduction to the comprehensive care needs of individuals with MS in 6-8 National MS Society Partners in MS Care Centers for Comprehensive MS Care, associated with Harvard University, University of Massachusetts and Tufts Medical School.
  • Exposure to MRI, laboratory and investigations activities from Boston to Worcester, MA
  • Opportunities to attend institutional lectures, departmental conferences and clinical team meetings related to MS.
  • Interaction with world-renowned multiple sclerosis specialists.

Participants must make their own living arrangements and have their own dependable transportation. For further information and to apply, contact David Young-Hong at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater New England Chapter at David.Young-Hong@nmss.org.

Deadline for applications is Friday, March 21, 2014 at 5 pm.
