The National MS Society mobilizes people and resources to drive research for a cure and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS. The Upper Midwest Chapter seeks a Event Fundraising Intern based in our Minneapolis office.

Position Title:  Event Fundraising Intern

Reports to: Community Engagement Manager

Location: Minneapolis                                                             

Position Summary:

The position is responsible for assisting community engagement team with implementing sponsor and event participant benefits. Administrative-based position responsible for event logistic assistance, communication and marketing support, participant cultivation, event reporting for sponsors and online grant submissions.

Ideal for building marketing, communication, event logistics and fundraising skills.

Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Creating event recognition materials including signage, thank you letters and awards
  • Coordinating invitations and correspondence for event participants
  • Draft sponsor recognition materials
  • Assisting in executing marketing tasks including grass roots marketing, creating email content, social media engagement
  • Compiling corporate partner event summaries and print proposals
  • Support entry of online grant submissions by coordinating information and supporting documents
  • Other projects as desired/necessary

Qualifications:

  • Applicable fields of study include, but are not limited to: marketing, communications, public relations, nonprofit management
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Personable and outgoing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Some lifting may be required

Time Commitment: 

Four-month unpaid internship (April/May through August) with potential to extend. Work hours would be Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. Minimum 15 hours required per week.

If the selected intern’s school has a credit program or offers work-study funds for internships, the Society will work with the intern and school to meet qualifying site requirements for those programs where possible.
