Why did you decide to participate in Walk MS?
I have decided to participate in Walk MS because I have MS. I feel it is the best way to represent those who cannot participate.
What are a few things you wish people understood about multiple sclerosis?
I wish people understood that just because I don't look sick doesn't mean I feel well. Everything about this disease, and every disease for that matter, is awful. But the support from my family, friends and community have made me realize that I am not alone!
What’s the most important, meaningful or memorable connection you have made since being diagnosed with MS or having someone close to you diagnosed?
I have only been diagnosed since September 2013, and since that time, I believe I have forged a friendship with Kathy Krueger. She is amazing and is an inspiration to us all to keep on keeping on. We are stronger together!
What makes you a great Walk MS Ambassador?
I feel I will be a great MS Walk Ambassador because I have a positive attitude. I feel I can be a voice for those who are unable to be a voice for themselves. I know there is a reason for everything; this diagnosis is an extension of that belief, and I hope being an ambassador for Walk MS is just the beginning of this "adventure"!
What makes your MS story unique?
My MS story, I don't think, is unique. I was diagnosed in a short period of time, tried to do it all on my own without meds, but now take a three-time per week injection after a nasty flare in December. I have faith, family and friendships that will help me push through this. I don't know that that is unique. I will continue to be a mom, wife, runner, friend and all those things I am so proud of. I am not unique; I am just like everyone else!
