We are unwavering in our commitment to be at the forefront of building awareness for multiple sclerosis and everyone affected by it. The disease and the MS movement — those engaged in addressing the challenges of MS today while moving toward long-term solutions for tomorrow — become better known each year, but more must be done.

Every connection counts when it comes to increasing awareness and support of our cause. Every individual we connect with personally, every letter we write to an elected official, every person in our Facebook network, every poster we put up, every dollar we raise, every video viewed — each connection has the opportunity to change the world for people affected by MS.

MS Awareness Week

MS Awareness Week 2015 is March 2 - 8 and people everywhere are creating connections stronger than the ones MS destroys. During this special week, take action to help others learn more about MS and what they can do to make a difference.

Opportunities in your community


Community Awareness Teams are goups that volunteer their time, talents and energy to promote MS awareness in their local communities through various volunteer activities and fundraising events.

North Carolina Community Awareness Teams


Specialized National MS Society license plates are available through the NC and SC Departments of Motor Vehicles. These plates create awareness and raise money used to create public awareness programs about multiple sclerosis.

Obtaining a specialized MS license plate is easy.

  1. You can apply online with at the NC DMV website
  2. Complete the online application or bring it to your local NC Vehicle & License Plate Office. You may mail the application and fee to: NC Division of Motor Vehicles, Special License Plate Unit, 3148 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699

Remember, when you apply the specialized fee is in addition to your NC vehicle registration fee. $15 of the specialized fee will be returned to the National MS Society, North Carolina Chapters.

  1. Visit the SC DMV website and select the "National Multiple Sclerosis Society" speciality plate
  2. Complete the online form or print and mail the information and fees to the SC Department of Motor Vehicles, PO Box 1498, Blythewood, SC, 29016-0008.

The Greater Carolinas Chapter receives all proceeds receive from the SC specialized license plate.

Help others learn about multiple sclerosis

Helping others better understand this complex and unpredictable disease is a critical part of creating awareness and understanding about MS.
