2015 MS Activist Week in New Jersey

The National MS Society is hosting our first New Jersey Activist Week from July 20 -24. Volunteers from across the state will meet with policymakers in their district offices to share their stories and advocate for important legislative issues. We need YOU to reinforce our advocacy message!

This year we are focusing our advocacy efforts on giving people living with MS access to higher-quality health care by:

  • Increasing access – and reducing the cost of -- disease modifying therapies
  • Expanding health plan provider networks
  • Encouraging providers to be more transparent about their policies

In addition to meeting with their legislators, volunteers can also participate in Activist Week from the comfort of their own home or office as a Virtual MS Activist. We will provide you sample messaging and more information about all of the ways you can take action.

Click here to sign up TODAY to meet with your legislators or to participate as a virtual MS Activist. Contact Mara Brough at mara.brough@nmss.org or (267) 765-5104 for additional information.

Here are some ways that you can be a virtual MS Activist during MS Activist Week:

  • Visit the NJ General Assembly website to see who your state legislators are.
  • Send an email or letter to your state legislators about your experience with MS and the issues you are most passionate about. (We make it easy for you to get started, by providing you with a template!)
  • Call you state legislator’s office to discuss the Society’s advocacy priorities.
  • Follow the New Jersey Metro Chapter and Greater Delaware Valley Chapter on Facebook. Change your Facebook status on July 20 to tell your friends you are an MS Activist and invite friends to follow our Facebook pages.
  • Follow @MSActivist on Twitter to receive live updates on MS advocacy federal updates, state updates and meet MS Activists as they share their story.
  • During Activist Week, use the hashtags #MSactionNJ and #MSactivist.

When you sign up to participate as a virtual activist, we will provide you with sample messages and more information about all the ways you can take action.

Thank you for being an MS Activist and moving our advocacy efforts forward in New Jersey!
