    Summer Creative Writing

    This is a 10 week online creative writing course under the direction of Brendan Costello Jr., a published author and creative writing instructor at the City College of New York. The course consists of reading and discussing the writing of the class participants, "meeting" in an online forum once a week (from 8 to 9 pm on Thursdays. Whether you are an experienced writer hoping to finish a large project or a beginner, still trying to find your voice, there is a place for you in the group.

    20s and 30s Program: Understanding Social Security Disability Insurance Benefits

    We are excited to introduce attorney Scott Daniels to the 20s and 30s Networking Group on Wednesday, July 23, to help dispel the myths about Social Security Disability Insurance. Scott will provide information for those that find themselves unable to work, and show us how to “plan for a potential claim” down the road. He will also help to break down the realities of the program including maintaining employment part-time while collecting SSDI.

    Can Do Webinar: Recognizing & Rebounding from an MS Relapse

    Relapses are unpredictable occurrences in multiple sclerosis, and it helps to understand how to recognize one and what can be done to get you back on your feet quickly. Join Gail Hartley, nurse practitioner, and Susan Kushner, physical therapist, to understand what a relapse is (or what it is not!), what to look for in a relapse, when to call your healthcare provider and how relapses can be treated to speed your recovery.

    Relationship Matters

    You and your spouse/partner are invited to a free workshop for couples living with the challenges of MS designed to help achieve a healthy and harmonious relationship. Learn to work as a team to manage MS and your relationship, apply successful problem solving techniques, and break patterns that prevent effective communication. Space is limited.     MS on the Job Web and Tele-Discussion Series

    Each group will start with a web based video presentation on the topic. An open discussion will follow. Members can ask questions and share what has worked for them. This program is only for individuals working with MS. Participation is limited so register early.

    Making Treatment & Lifestyle Decisions: Thinking Clearly about Benefits and Risks

    Join us for a FREE educational program about multiple sclerosis offered in Spanish. This program highlights the significant progress being made in developing new treatments and focuses on how people with MS evaluate benefits and risks when making treatment and lifestyle decisions. Our guest presenter is bilingual neurologist, Dr. Wendy Vargas from Columbia University Medical Center MS Clinical Care & Research Center. Light refreshments to be served.

    Can Do Webinar: MS Symptoms Part II: Managing Your Mood & Cognition Issues

    Many individuals living with MS will face cognitive changes during the course of the disease. Individuals may face loss of memory, attention, visual perception or verbal fluency skills. Join speech language pathologist Jeff Hodgson and psychologist Peggy Crawford to recognize these cognitive changes and learn strategies to meet the challenges of cognitive issues.

    Researchers are working tirelessly to discover new ways to treat multiple sclerosis and ultimately stop, repair and end the disease forever. This year’s program will focus on one of the first clinical trials to restore myelin damaged by MS in the brain, discuss advancements in future disease modification therapies and present an overview of the projects currently funded by the Society.

    Computer Outreach Program

    The computer outreach program provides computers to those who are living with ms and are restricted to their homes or are living in long term care facilities. This program enables people to remain connected to the world despite financial constraints that preclude them from purchasing computers or assistive technology.
