For many years of his childhood, Nikko Howard has been there by his mother’s side. After finishing up his schoolwork at James Bowie High School in Austin or completing the school newspaper as co-editor-in-chief, Nikko went home to do anything from assisting his mother up stairs to simply putting on his mother’s socks. This life has given Nikko new insight, he admits. “I have seen the profound effect of simple acts of caring,” he says. “Just knowing that I have bettered someone’s life, someone like my mother, is something that is truly rewarding.” Nikko plans to better his own life through education at the University of Texas.
