Overview:

Serve as the “face” of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society by helping spread awareness, educating the public and keeping the community aware of our vital mission year round.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend health fairs, community and awareness events as requested.
  • Identify venues and opportunities to promote awareness of the Society, our mission, and the programs and services offered in your community.
  • Make presentations to self-help groups, address civic organizations and corporations, represent the Society at community fundraising events.

Education and Support
Initial training will be provided for each Ambassador. The training will focus on the history of the National MS Society, MS and the current programs and support we offer to those living with MS in the Lone Star Chapter. Additional updates regarding the Society, programs and services and research will also be provided throughout the year.

The MS Ambassador Program Manager will help to coordinate opportunities, ensuring that you are prepared for each assignment.

  • Promotional supplies for use at events and a training manual will be provided. A local Society staff member will be available to assist Ambassadors with any questions prior to and post event.
  • Volunteers will be asked for a written evaluation after each event to help determine how to enhance the program.

Qualifications

  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Comfortable speaking in public / strong communication skills.
  • Desire to further the mission and spread awareness within the community.
  • One year commitment; it is estimated Ambassadors will attend four training events per year in addition to the initial training.
  • Dates, times, locations and duration of events will vary from region to region and event to event.
  • Impact

Foster new relationships within the community and increase awareness. Individuals and communities will be empowered to make their individual mark in the movement to create a world free of MS.
