State Action Day

Share

At state capitols around the country, MS activists, Government Relations Committee (GRC) members and other volunteers convene annually to learn about MS advocacy priorities. Through coordinated in-person visits, they share those priorities with State Senators, Representatives, Assembly members, and other policy makers.
Thank you for participating in our 2016 Virginia State Action Day as a Virtual MS Activist!

We are excited to have you join us in advocating for legislation that will increase the quality of life for Virginians with MS and their families.

This year we are advocating to:
  • Expand the state Medicaid program in order to close the coverage gap.
  • Increase funding for the Lifespan Respite Voucher Program.
We encourage you to spread the word about MS, discuss the issues and share your story on Action Day via a variety of social media outlets and by email. You can read more about each of the issues on the last page of this document.

We are using the hashtags #MSactionVA and #MSactivist to draw attention and spark conversation throughout the day!

Click here to send a pre-drafted email to your state delegate and senator and share your story about MS and how it relates to one of our priority issues. Once you are logged into the website, there will be a form that contains all of the contact information of your legislators. Please be sure to personalize your message by adding the following elements to your story:
  • What is your connection to MS?
  • How does MS affect you and/or your family?
  • In what ways has your life changed since the MS diagnosis?
  • Are there any changes in law that you would like your legislator to work on?
  • How would this change benefit your or your family?
