MS Activist, Arizona
MS entered Bonnie’s life in the early 1970s when her husband Jim was diagnosed with the disease. Quickly becoming his primary caregiver, Bonnie started sharing her family’s story with MS with legislators and community groups to increase understanding about the impact MS has on family members and caregivers. Her advocacy has made a difference for thousands of families in their home state of Arizona. Bonnie was instrumental in helping Arizona seek and secure funds from the federal Lifespan Respite Care Program to provide relief and needed resources to family caregivers in that state. Bonnie’s inspiration has been and always will be her husband Jim. Though Jim passed in 2013, Bonnie continues her fight to make a difference in his honor.
