MS Activist, New York
John is a down-to-earth guy who sees his role as an MS activist to put a face to the disease. He thinks it’s important for elected officials to know how MS has impacted his life, including the difficulties he faces day-to-day. He presents his story in a real albeit sometimes humorous manner which makes legislators want to listen. As a long-time member and now Chair of the New York City - Southern New York Chapter’s Government Relations Committee (GRC), John has attended over 20 in district visits with legislators, his state capitol and members of Congress on Capitol Hill. He likes explaining why policies are important to him as someone who lives with MS and is particularly passionate about public transportation access and health insurance reform.
