About This Issue

What We Are Trying To Accomplish: To develop partnerships with state agencies that make decisions about how laws, services or policies are implemented.

Why It’s Important:  Partnerships and the relationships that result allow us to be at the table when decisions are being made and advocate for changes that have a positive impact on the lives of those with MS.

Updates: Across the country, MS activists are building relationships and partnerships that drive change. Examples of successful state partnerships that can be replicated by activists include:

  • The Maryland Chapter developed a partnership with the state’s vocational rehabilitation agency to educate their counselors on the unique employment needs of person’s living with MS.
  • In Arizona, activist Bonnie Danowski serves on the Arizona Caregiver Coalition Advisory Board.
  • In New Jersey, the Department of Health and Human Services website has placed a link to the National MS Society to provide education and resources for individuals and healthcare providers.
