2013 Programs & Services Hall of Fame

Dick Bell

Dick is owner of Bell Financial and has provided insurance and financial services for more than 40 years. In 2006 he spearheaded the Financial Education Partners™ project, with an emphasis in helping people with MS. In the last 13 years, he has aided hundreds of families affected by MS with pro-bono guidance and through chapter and Society-wide programs on topics including insurance matters, benefits, and lifestyle financial options planning.

Janet Nurnberg

Janet is passionate about supporting young people impacted by MS — planning and implementing programs and connecting people to information, resources and most importantly, one another. As founder of the chapter’s first-ever 20s and 30s group in the Upper Midwest, Janet has played an integral role in engaging and empowering this important group. Janet has also participated in every chapter fundraising event.

John Sheehan

John is a seasoned social worker who has enthusiastically volunteered his talents for the past seven years. As a skilled peer counselor, extraordinary advocate, influential co-chair of the Government Relations Committee, and a charismatic MS Champion, John’s dynamic leadership style is an unparalleled force for positive change.

Kim Douglas, RN

Kim is an MS certified nurse and has volunteered for the chapter for over 12 years. She is an integral part of the delivery of chapter programs and services, serving as a peer support volunteer, self-help group leader, and a presenter for newly diagnosed orientations. Kim continues her great work through membership on the Government Relations and Programs committees.

Linda Kraemer, PhD

Linda took action after witnessing the effects of MS on her neighbor. Elected to the Greater Delaware Valley Board of Trustees in 1994, she has since served on nearly every committee, making her one of the most active trustees in its history. Linda recently used her skills as a grant writer to revamp the Community Impact Grant materials, making it possible to better evaluate grant outcomes.

Teresa Smith

Teresa was diagnosed with MS in 1999. Since that time she's been a compassionate Society volunteer. She facilitates a self-help group and is an MS activist and ambassador. Teresa has shared her story with legislators and local media to raise MS awareness. She also participates in Walk MS and Bike MS events.

Toni Kodner

Toni is a true believer in doing what you can to live well with MS. After her diagnosis Toni realized how crucial health and wellness are in living well with MS. Through her past 11 years of involvement in wellness programs, Toni has become a household name for people living with MS and staff alike.
