Richard Hausman’s involvement with the National MS Society began over 40 years ago, when he was diagnosed with MS. Since then, his personal journey with MS and his larger than life personality have inspired his family and friends to get involved with the National MS Society, including his son Rick who is currently a board member at the Pacific South Coast Chapter.

Among his many accomplishments as chair of the then Orange County Chapter, were an initial fundraising effort hosted by Ara Parsegian, Notre Dame Football coach and longtime supporter of MS, and an annual Roger’s Gardens party soiree.

In the late 1970’s, Mr. Hausman was nominated the “MS Man of the Year.” He served as a trustee at an exciting time in the chapter’s history, which included the founding of an MS clinic at the University of California, Irvine. Mr. Hausman and the Hausman Family Foundation continue to support research programs at the university and the chapter.

Mr. Hausman, a widower for five years, has four children - Rick, Teri, Mary Jo and John and eight grandchildren - Trey, Nicole, Jenna, Ashley, Kaitlan, Brittany, Mackenzie and Lauren.
