Upper Midwest

Dick Knutson, CEO of the Minneapolis law firm Larkin Hoffman, Daly & Lindgren, Ltd., is a dedicated leader in the MS movement, serving on the Upper Midwest Chapter Board of Trustees (formerly Minnesota) for more than 17 years and on the National Board of Directors since 2008.

Dick’s leadership spans two decades in numerous roles locally, regionally and Society-wide, and he always keeps people living with multiple sclerosis at the center of each conversation and decision. At the chapter level, Dick has filled many significant leadership roles, including board chair, treasurer, Governance Committee chair and Finance Committee chair, and he currently serves on the Executive, Finance and Audit Committees. In addition, he provides on-the-ground support throughout the year, from working the registration table at Walk MS, to supporting Bike MS cyclists, to speaking at recognition events.

Dick is recognized nationwide for his leadership in the Midwest Region, where he has worked to build stronger chapters, successfully leading two historic realignments, which required skill and diplomacy, and resulted in a stronger organization with better services for people with MS. Dick serves on the National Board of Directors and contributes significantly as a member of the Chapter Relations, Finance and Insurance Committees. His national involvement has also included service on the Nomination and Compensation Committees, the Region Formation Advisory Work Group, as well as chair of the National Program Expense Policy Review Committee. Most recently, as a member of the National Budget Review Committee, Dick provided critical input in the design of a new Society budgeting process.

What sets Dick Knutson apart is the amazing depth of his involvement with the Society. His commitment is an inspiration to others. His positive attitude, ability to motivate others, generosity, and passion for our mission are qualities recognized as the Society’s Volunteer of the Year.
