Audrey Blank was running eight miles a day and working in Developmental Pediatrics in the Medical School at the University of Texas. Life was moving according to plan for Audrey, her husband Damon and daughter Caitlin.

Things began to change when one day she found herself completely exhausted after climbing the stairs to wish her daughter good night. In 2007 Audrey was diagnosed, or as she likes to say, “challenged,” with MS. She found the news to be both a curse and a blessing – it was helpful to know the source of her symptoms, but MS-related cognitive changes impacted her ability to continue her career and care for her family. However, a self-described “Type A” personality, Audrey would not be defeated by the disease. She became a Walk MS Team Captain for Team Audrey’s Heroes, a spokesperson for the Society in Texas, and an MS advocate in every sense of the word.

Today she travels to National MS Society events across the country to share her story and hopeful spirit with participants and people impacted by MS. At a recent Walk MS event, a participant approached Audrey and said that after hearing Audrey’s story, she now has the courage to share her own diagnosis. These encounters are Audrey’s “therapy,” and inspire connections and action in the MS Movement. Audrey is proof that together, we can do something about MS, NOW. Join Audrey, and become an MS Research Champion.
