Arizona Chapter announces 2nd Annual Continuing Medical Education Conference

MS 2009: Maximizing Care Strategies

The National MS Society, Arizona Chapter is pleased to announce our 2nd annual multi-disciplinary continuing medical education conference.  MS 2009: Maximizing Care Strategies is an exciting opportunity to bring together physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, social workers, speech language pathologists and other medical professionals involved in the search for answers to the complex problems of multiple sclerosis.

Learning Objectives:

• Summarize the current state of medical research and ongoing clinical trials as they relate to emerging diagnostic tools and therapies

• Update current MS therapies and efficacy of treatment protocols

• Explain the similarities and differences in the clinical presentation and neuroimaging of MS

• Delineate between the primary, secondary and tertiary causes for neuropsychological dysfunction in MS

• Assess the role of genetics in causation and individual manifestations of MS

• Identify psychological and social variables that influence patient and family adaptation to pediatric MS

• Assess for missing components of a patient’s rehabilitation process that can optimize their functionality

• Utilize the multidisciplinary treatment model for assessment, and development and implementation of treatment plan
