Auditions for "MS Divazz!"
Gaynell Mixon was diagnosed with MS in 2002. Since her diagnosis, she and her sons Jamal and Jerod Mixon (The Nutty Professor; Me, Myself & Irene; Old School; Paul Blart: Mall Cop) have been volunteering to raise MS awareness and funds for a cure.
Now, Gaynell is teaming up with arranger and producer H.B. Barnum to create the "MS Divazz!", a singing group comprised of women with MS. Barnum is most widely known as an arranger, for many famous performers, including Aretha Franklin, Lou Rawls, The O'Jays, Frank Sinatra, the Supremes, Temptations, Gladys Knight, and many others. Gaynell explained her motivation for forming this unique group, saying, "You have to use what the lord gave you. Just because you have MS, life still goes on."
Gaynell is looking for women with multiple sclerosis, who use wheelchairs, and are able to sing and dance. If you are interested in auditioning for the "MS Divazz!" please contact Gaynell directly at 310.762.6268 or gmixonm@yahoo.com. Those interested in auditioning, may also audition for Barnum's "Life Choir."
