This Weekend, Help Give Bakersfield the Color for a Cure

Tied up on Saturday, February 28? If not, join the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as we turn Bakersfield orange, the color for a cure. We will be tying orange ribbons around the trees along the intersection of Truxtun and Chester Avenues to draw attention to multiple sclerosis (MS).

Volunteers will meet at our office in the Young-Wooldridge building at 1800 30th Street at 11:30am before hitting the streets as a kick-off to national MS Awareness Week, March 2 - 8, 2009. Be sure to wear an orange shirt.

This is just one of many ways volunteers are moving to find a cure for MS, the disease that keeps people from moving. Right now, teams are being formed, and donations are being accepted for Walk MS 2009, which takes place at Yokuts Park Saturday, March 28. Participants will walk, roll, or stroll either 5K or 1.5K trails, and then take part in family-friendly activities that include a clown, a live performance by Steve Davis & Stampede, and lunch provided by Santa Barbara Pizza & Chicken. Click to find more information on Walk MS 2009 or MS Awareness Week or call Kim Kotrla at 661.321.9512 to volunteer this Saturday.
