MS Activist Administrator
- Internship Location: National MS Society, West LA
- The MS Activist Administrator is responsible for increasing awareness about MS and advancing Chapter Advocacy goals through the development and implementation of quality administrative systems. Build the movement for a world free of MS by providing administrative support for recruitment, volunteer development and mentorship within the Advocacy program.
- Key Responsibilities:
Administrative:
•Research, compile and maintain lists of volunteers, elected officials and relevant legislative information.
•Prepare materials for Advocacy Program volunteers and staff.
•Summarize volunteer activities, including but not limited to volunteer legislative and Congressional outreach.
•Maintain accurate, organized and centralized records and files related to Chapter Advocacy programs.
Program Delivery:
•Provide administrative support for volunteer activities, including annual conferences, teleconferences and the MS Research Story Book.
•Maintain knowledge of current programs and services.
•Update and synchronize the Action Alert list quarterly.
•Assist with drafting of Action Alerts.
•Special recruitment projects to build MS Activist and other advocacy programs.
Marketing and Community Relations:
•Communicate in alignment with the Society mission and brand. - Commitment:

MS Activist Biographer
- Internship Location: National MS Society, West LA
- Internship Opportunity: Contribute photos, personal testimonials, and videos to chapter “story banking” efforts to give voice to those affected by MS. Complement the public policy priorities of the National MS Society and its chapters with the faces and stories of those affected by MS. Take photos and videos. Creatively record the stories of those affected by MS.
- Key Responsibilities:
•Collect, package and catalogue personal profiles of individuals affected by multiple sclerosis, including in written and video formats.
•Package these vignettes into the lives of those affected by multiple sclerosis for public policy officials and the media, in order to create broader awareness of multiple sclerosis. - Commitment: Two to three hours monthly, for a minimum of 1 year, with a willingness to travel to attend chapter special events and programs and to document the stories of those affected by MS.

Communications and Public Relations Intern
- Internship Location: National MS Society, Upland office
- Requirements: Full or part-time college student or graduate student. Ideal candidate would make minimum commitment of 8 weeks, 15-20 hours per week.
- Description: Assist in promoting programs and events through press releases, media advisories, and calendar listings. The intern will play an active role collecting information for the Chapter website. The intern will also see through to completion several pitch stories for event participants, donors, or clients.
- Skills Desired: Excellent written, oral communication and phone skills; interest in learning about public relations, marketing, special events, development, client services and/or advocacy; comfortable speaking to others and working with a variety of people; familiarity with the media helpful but not required; ability to work independently and take initiative.
