“Strengthening Intimacy in the Face of MS”: A Retreat for Couples
April 17-18th, Hilton Fort Collins

This 1/1/2 day program with an optional over-night is designed for people with MS and their partners. The program is very interactive and is designed to support you as you deal with MS in your relationship. It will also provide an opportunity to connect with others dealing with similar issues for support and understanding. Hopefully, you will gain new tools to assist you in managing some of the difficulties that have an impact on your relationship and enhance your strengths.

This program is designed for 25 couples. There will be an evening dinner program, (with check in at 5:45 pm) and a full day Saturday program. (8:30 – Continental breakfast, program begins at 9 am and ends at 5 pm.) The program itself is free, with the exception of lunch on your own on Saturday. We are encouraging couples to give themselves the gift of a night away as your contribution. The Hilton is offering reduced rate rooms for Friday evening of $89+ tax. Reservations for a room should be made directly with the Hilton by March 17th at 970-482-2626. (Reservations after that date will be provided on a space available basis and are not guaranteed at the reduced rate.)

The Program includes a presentation by Sheri Friedman, MD on “MS and Sexuality”. Dr. Friedman is a Neurologist with Neurology Associates of Northern Colorado. She has a BA in Psychology from Case Western Reserve University, and an MA in Biological Psychology from the University of Iowa.

JJ Levy, MA, MSW, PC and Saul Hopper Ph.D will provide group leadership, along with Dolores Kueffler, MA, ABS from the NMSS staff. J.J. Levy is a Psychiatric Social Worker in private practice. She is certified as a Sex Therapist by the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors & Therapists and is certified as a Group Psychotherapist. Enriching our Relationships—Greeley Community Gathering

Join us during National Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week for light appetizers and lively conversation

Monday March 2, 2009 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Greeley Recreation Center
651 10th Ave., Greeley, CO

Significant relationships take effort and energy, even without the added challenges of MS. To keep your relationships healthy and balanced, it’s important to make sure that everyone involved stay on the giving and receiving end of the relationship. While MS does pose some additional challenges, it can also enrich relationships and bring people closer together. The first step in figuring out how to deal with MS in your personal interactions is to recognize that the disease affects all of you — whether you have the disease or care about someone who does.

Join us during National Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week for light appetizers and lively conversation. The evening topic “Enriching Your Relationships” will be facilitated by JJ Levy, MA, MSW, and Saul Hopper, Ph.D. There is no cost for this program, and you must pre-register by calling 482-4807 or 1-800-344-4867 by February 25, 2009.
