Gifts of Stocks and Securities

Make the Colorado Chapter One of Your Beneficiaries

American taxpayers have long enjoyed the opportunity to make charitable gifts of stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and other securities that have increased in value while bypassing capital gains tax that would be due on a sale. You are, in effect, allowed to use "paper profits" to help reduce federal and, perhaps, state income taxes.

Your gift of stock or securities can make a difference to someone living with MS. The following information will ensure that your gift is received and confirmed appropriately.

Upon receipt of a securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds) contribution, the Colorado Chapter's policy is to sell the security immediately, unless otherwise stipulated in writing by the donor.

In accordance with IRS regulations, your gift is not completed and valued until the stock is received by our broker.
