JOIN THE MOVEMENT WITH A TEAM!
Experience the camaraderie, fun, and excitement of teaming up to help create a world free of MS. Teams are a great way to bring friends and co-workers closer together, boost company morale, and show community involvement. Best of all, it’s more fun to ride with those you care about!
Starting a team is as easy as 1-2-3!
What is a team?
A group of four or more (you and 3 others) constitute a team! Simply select a team captain, a team name and register for the Great-West Life Bike MS, Colorado’s Ride 2009 presented by Sam's Club! There are teams ranging from 4 people to 500! Registered team captains and team members qualify for both individual and team prizes.
Why start a team?
Have more fun and raise more money! Crossing the finish line with your co-workers, friends, or family makes the event even more memorable. Plus, statistically, people who participate as a member of a team raise more money on average to help find a cure for MS.
What does it mean to be a team captain?
As the Team Captain, you are the leader, motivator and educator for your team. Your enthusiasm will encourage your team members to raise more funds and come back year after year. Educate your team about multiple sclerosis. It is important to have a basic understanding of this disease and it's easier to raise money when you can explain our mission. - Tell your story. Why have you decided to lead a team? Do you have a personal connection to MS?
- Be a motivator! Promote your team goals and work to reach them.
- Discuss training and fundraising ideas with team members.
- Encourage team members to register, turn in donations, and stay enthusiastic about the event.
- Recognize individual and collective accomplishments. You can send out group emails, hold team meetings or host a team kick off or post event celebration.
- Show up at the event with a smile!
- Thank all participants and sponsors for their support and let them know that you'll need their help again next year.
