Third Annual MS Comedy Night Brings Hilarity To Manchester
MANCHESTER, Conn. – The third annual MS Comedy Night promises to tickle your funny bone, making this year’s venue apropos.
| Jim Colliton |
The National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter will host the event on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the Hartford Funny Bone Comedy Club in Manchester, located in the Shoppes at Buckland Hill. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. show.
Tickets are $25, and the first 50 people to purchase tickets receive a free drink ticket and a commemorative MS Comedy Night pint glass.
Nationally-renowned comedian Jim Colliton, who has performed in venues across the country, will headline this year’s event. Colliton has been featured on Comedy Central’s Laugh Riot, Comcast’s Comedy Spotlight and Ed McMahon’s Next Big Star and he can be heard on XM Satellite Radio’s Comedy Channel. He has also opened for musical acts such as the Beach Boys and Patti LaBelle.
The opening comedian is newcomer Mike Whitman, who has been making a name for himself on the Boston comedy circuit. At this year’s Boston Comedy Festival, Whitman was named Boston’s Best New Comedian.
WTIC 96.5 FM personality Damon Scott will serve as the event's emcee.
“With the third annual MS Comedy Night coming upon us, we decided to jumpstart the event by having it at an established venue such as the Hartford Funny Bone Comedy Club,” said Kevin Gallagher, development coordinator for the Connecticut Chapter.
More than 6,000 Connecticut residents are affected by multiple sclerosis, a potentially debilitating disease affecting the central nervous system. The cause is unknown and, as a result, there is currently no cure for MS. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot be predicted.
Funds raised through events, such as the MS Comedy Night, ensure ongoing scientific research to find a cure and provide for the continuation of vital programs and services offered by the Connecticut Chapter to residents statewide diagnosed with MS.
