Rock Cats Offer Beer Tasting To Fight MS

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The National MS Society and the New Britain Rock Cats Foundation are teaming up Wednesday, July 22, for the Ballpark Beer Tasting Event For Charity to raise money to battle MS.

rockcatsGuests can participate in the charity beer tasting event before the game from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. at the Samuel Adams Rooftop Bar and Grill. Tickets to the event cost only $25 and guests can sample a variety of Samuel Adams beer and enjoy hors d’oeuvres.

The open-air Samuel Adams Rooftop Bar and Grill on the stadium’s upper level patio along the third-base line is a popular gathering place for fans who enjoy the feel of a sports bar while attending a Rock Cats game.

The $25 ticket also includes a reserved seat to the game between the New Britain Rock Cats and the Portland Sea Dogs at 7:05 p.m. that night.

The Rock Cats are the Double-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins and play in New Britain Stadium, located at 230 John Karbonic Way in New Britain.

The proceeds from the tickets sold to the tasting event will be split evenly between the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter, and the Rock Cats Foundation.

More than 6,000 Connecticut residents battle the baffling effects of multiple sclerosis, a potentially debilitating disease affecting the central nervous system. The cause is unknown and, as a result, there currently is no cure. Funds raised through events, such as the Rock Cats fundraiser, ensure the continuation of scientific research to find a cure, and provide for vital programs and services offered by the chapter to Connecticut residents living with multiple sclerosis.

The Rock Cats Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing social, educational and scholarship opportunities for local youths in connection with the activities of the New Britain Rock Cats baseball club. The foundation is also dedicated to benefiting charities in the Connecticut community.

In August 2008, the Rock Cats Foundation held a Harley Night event that raised $2,500 in part for the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter.

To purchase tickets for the Ballpark Beer Tasting Event For Charity, please call 860-224-8383. Space is limited and those attending must reserve their spot by Monday, July 20.
