If Laughter’s The Best Medicine, We’ve Got Just What The Doctor Ordered
Hartford’s TIC 96.5 On-Air Personality Damon Scott Named Host
HARTFORD, Conn. – They say laughter is the best medicine. And while laughter can’t cure all that ails, there’s just nothing like a good guffaw to lighten the load.
| Jim Colliton |
On Wednesday, Sept. 16, the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter will host, at the Hartford Funny Bone Comedy Club in Manchester, MS Comedy Night featuring comedian Jim Colliton, who authored the award-winning “Stories from the Suburbs.” One of Hartford’s funniest personalities, Damon Scott, 96.5 TIC FM, has been named this year’s emcee and the opening act includes up and coming comedian Mike Whitman.
Colliton has been featured on Comedy Central’s Laugh Riot, Comcast’s Comedy Spotlight and Ed McMahon's Next Big Star and he can be heard on XM Satellite Radio’s Comedy Channel. He has also opened for musical acts such as the Beach Boys and Patti LaBelle. Damon Scott, who co-hosts The Damon Scott Show with Jeannine Jersey weekdays from 3 to 8 p.m. on 96.5 TIC FM, hails from Ellsworth, Kan., and has been in broadcast for more than 18 years.
Proceeds benefit the more than 6,000 Connecticut residents battling the potentially debilitating effects of multiple sclerosis. Symptoms can include numbness and tingling in the extremities, difficulties with vision and speech, stiffness, fatigue and, in some severe cases, total paralysis. There is no cure. Funds raised through chapter events, such as the MS Comedy Night, ensure ongoing scientific research to find a cure and provide for the continuation of vital programs and services offered by the Connecticut Chapter to residents statewide diagnosed with MS.
The Hartford Funny Bone Comedy Club is located in the Shoppes at the Buckland Hills in Manchester. Tickets to MS Comedy Night are $25. The first 50 people to purchase tickets receive a free drink ticket and a commemorative MS Comedy Night pint glass. Doors open at 7 p.m. The show begins at 8 p.m.
If laughter is the best medicine, then MS Comedy Night is just what the doctor ordered. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact Kevin Gallagher, development coordinator, at 860-913-2550, ext. 235, or at kgallagher@ctfightsMS.org.
