For our first 50 years, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society depended largely upon scientific investigators to propose research projects in areas that, in their opinion, held the highest promise for finding answers to multiple sclerosis. From time to time, the National MS Society has “targeted” certain areas of critical research in need of special emphasis. In recent years the National MS Society’s senior Research Programs Advisory Committee has identified four promising areas of research that were not attracting sufficient investigator interest. These areas have been targeted for special attention, and the National MS Society launched a five-year campaign, Promise: 2010, to support these and future targeted research programs. The Connecticut Chapter has committed to raising $1.5 million over five years in funding to these four key areas of research! The money raised will be in addition to funds that the chapter has already committed to the vital programs and services offered throughout our Chapter area.
