Comment on the ADA Amendments Act by Nov. 23
The period for general comments about the proposed regulation to the ADA Amendments Act will end on November 23, 2009. The regulation has great potential impact for people with MS and people with disabilities, so act now to make your voice heard.
The Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008 (also known as the ADA Amendments Act) was signed by the President on September 25, 2008, and enacted on January 1, 2009. This law made a number of significant changes to the definition of "disability."
Congress directed the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) to amend its ADA regulation to reflect these changes. The EEOC approved a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM), which was published in the Federal Register on September 23, 2009. The general public was given 60 days to submit comments to the EEOC about the proposed regulation.
