Support for Families with Children 18 Years or Younger
The Strengthening the MS Family program offers individualized education and support to families where a parent or child/teen has MS.
The program’s three goals include
- Increase families’ support networks by linking families with other Society programs and community resources.
- Increase safety and/or independence for the parent or child/teen with MS by helping him or her access specific services (see below for possibilities).
- Connect children with age-appropriate activities or needs that may otherwise be too expensive for the family budget.
Limited financial assistance may be available in the following areas:
- Respite Care – includes home health aide assistance, house cleaning, incontinence supplies, emergency alert system
- Adaptive equipment and home modifications
- In-home occupational and physical therapy assessments
- Transportation services
- Children’s Fund – to help pay for age-appropriate activities.
A phone assessment will determine a family’s eligibility for this limited, grant-funded program. For more information call 202-296-5363.
