Each National Capital Chapter volunteer has a unique personal story and connection to our mission. Meet two of the many volunteers who donate their time.

Mary Ann Emberson

Mary Ann began volunteering with the chapter in 2000, after a friend was diagnosed with MS. She helps in the chapter’s office, efficiently managing administrative projects like mass mailings and event registration packets, and at events like Walk MS. Every September, Mary Ann participates in the two-day, 50-kilometer Capital Challenge Walk MS as a Crew member on a team with her friends and family.

“I volunteer to make a difference and to move us closer to a cure,” Mary Ann says. “I think the chapter is a great place and if anybody has time they should come volunteer.”

The chapter honored Mary Ann with the 2007 Volunteer of the Year Award.
