The chapter offers education programs on the medical, social and psychological aspects of MS. These may take place in one of the following forms:
- General education programs throughout the mid Florida area include educational and social programs designed for specific audiences.
- Professional education programs and materials such as in-service trainings for employers or health-care professionals
- Newly diagnosed information for persons with MS such as short-term support groups and Knowledge is Power mailings.
- MS Learn Online, an internet education series.
- Caregiver education and support programs
- Teleconference Series the 2nd Tuesday of every month.
- Children and Teen education programs for children and teens diagnosed with MS.
Join us for the FAIR - The Second Annual Family Abilities Information Rally on Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 10 am to 2 pm at The Academies in Tampa. There will be fun, games, food, entertainment, and informational booths and vendors. Click here for more information.
And make sure you check out the University of South Florida's "Accessi-BULL: Showcasing Abilities" event on Monday, October 26! This day-long event will feature speakers, art, music, sports exhibitions, food and fun - all geared towards raising awareness and educating the community on issues related to people with disabilities. Also coming up is our Annual Meeting! Join us Saturday, November 14th, 2009 at the University of South Florida for "A Year of New Beginnings," our annual research symposium and conference. Our keynote speaker is Dr. Edward L. Hogan, Professor of Neurology at the Medical College of Georgia, and board certified neurologist in MS at the Augusta Medical Center. There will also be vendor exhibits, an awards ceremony, and a tour of USF's MS Center. Click here for more information.
