North Florida Chapter is raising funds through THE PLAYERS Championship Birdies for Charity

Organization trying to hit a goal of $5000!!

With your donations we can help to change the life of a person with MS, dramatically. Here are a few ways YOU could help.

Acessibilty Fund
MS stops people from moving, and the disability that sometimes comes can change a person’s life forever. The North Florida Chapter helps people with MS stay independent by paying for ramps, grab bars, door widening, wheelchairs, walkers and car modifications.

Kids Camp
Kids who have a parent with MS often become caregivers. Childhood activities are taken over by the real need to help more around the house and medical attention. Kids Camp is one weekend a year when kids ages 7-12 can meet peers, learn about MS and just have fun with activities like swimming, archery, crafts and a dance party!

Programs for Newly Diagnosed
Each week, more than 200 people hear the words “You have MS”. The Society offers support and programs for people who are newly diagnosed and their family members. People can access information online, through the mail and at local workshops and self help group groups. Volunteer and networking opportunities are more ways to stay connected to their community and funds raised from THE PLAYERS Championship Birdies for Charity program will help us reach that goal. Prior to tournament week, fans are invited to guess the number of birdies that will be made during THE PLAYERS and select the charity they would like their pledge to benefit. We are hoping our supporters will pledge enough through THE PLAYERS Birdies for Charity program to help us raise $5000.

Birdies for Charity annually leads up to THE PLAYERS and allows the community to support local charities through tracking the exciting, high-level of play during the tournament, which takes place May 4-10.

Similar to a walk-a-thon, Birdies for Charity participants make a pledge for each birdie made by professional golfers during THE PLAYERS. In 2008, 1,241 birdies were made during the four-day event. Close to $180,000 was raised last year through Birdies for Charity, part of the record $3 million generated by THE PLAYERS.

In addition to supporting our efforts, the lucky person who guesses exactly how many birdies are made during the tournament’s competitive rounds will win an all-expense paid trip to The Presidents Cup in San Francisco, California, in October.

Please visit www.pgatour.com/theplayers and make a pledge to MS Society. The deadline for entries is Wednesday, May 6.
