World MS Day Set for May 27
The first World MS Day will unite individuals, groups and organizations in the global MS movement. It will provide them with an opportunity to participate in events and activities that will raise awareness of MS as a global issue and raise funds to support the work of the movement including MS research. You can sign up to join the global movement by registering as an individual, organization or researcher and by registering your World MS Day event on the World MS Day map.
World MS Day will be held on Wednesday 27 May 2009 (and the last Wednesday of May every year in the future). World MS Day has been established by the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation and its member MS societies for any individual, group and organization involved in global MS movement.
World MS Day has been established to: Raise awareness of MS, national MS societies and the global MS movement, unite, broaden and mobilize the global MS movement, and generate funds to support the global MS movement.
Individuals, groups and organizations can get involved in World MS Day by registering their involvment in the global MS movement, organizing or participating in a World MS Day event, registering MS related research and donating funds to support the work of the global MS movement.
The global MS movement united every person with and affected by MS worldwide. Together every individual, group and organization in the worl can fight to improve the quality of life of all people with MS and the many more people affected by it. The global MS movement:
- Undertakes research into treatment for, and an end to, MS
- Develops the capacity of MS societies to support people with MS
- Communicated information about MS
- Advocates and campaigns for the rights of people with MS
