NATIONAL MS SOCIETY SOUTH FLORIDA CHAPTER RECEIVES 2009 SAILFISH AWARD FROM BROWARD COUNTY CONVENTION CENTER
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL—The Broward County Convention Center has honored the National Multiple Sclerosis Society South Florida Chapter with the 2009 Sailfish Award for Outstanding Social Event. The Convention Center was impressed with the organization’s 26th Annual MS Gala & Fashion Show presented by DBS Financial Group this year.
Attended by more than 1,200 women, this is the largest MS luncheon and fashion show in the country and has become one of the most prestigious fundraisers in the community raising $450,000 this year.
“We appreciate this recognition from the Broward County Convention Center for our MS Gala and Fashion Show. This award symbolizes the amount of hard work that goes into this event from the MS Society staff, Gala Committee and this past year’s Gala Chair, Deborah DelPrete,” said Karen Dresbach, President of the South Florida Chapter of the National MS Society.
Since the event’s inception, 26 years ago, the MS Gala & Luncheon raised nearly $4 million to help the National MS Society fund research to find the cause of MS, ways to treat MS, and, ultimately, a cure for the disease. Additionally, funds go toward programs that enhance knowledge, health and independence for the 15,000 people and their families affected by MS in South Florida.
