2012 HONOREES: PHIL & SANDRA COOPER
Phil and Sandra have been generous annual supporters of the Cohn Weil Outing for most of our history. We hope you join us this year on July 9, 2012 to help honor Phil and Sandra for their leadership in our mission to end multiple sclerosis.
The first Carol Cohn Invitation Golf Outing was held in August 1979 at Westmoreland Country Club in Wilmette, Ill. Chaired by Board Member June Golin and organized by John Pont and Robert Seebeck, the outing honored the wife of Norman Cohn, then president of the National MS Society and former chairman of the chapter. Mrs. Cohn, who had MS, was a regular attendee at the outing until her passing in 1988.The event’s name was changed to the Carol Cohn and Margie Weil Memorial MS Outing in 1998, after Mrs. Weil passed away after a long and stoic battle with MS. Margie Weil lived with MS for 40 years and during that time raised three children while selflessly dedicating many years to counseling MS clients and to supporting her husband Julian Weil’s 20 years of volunteer leadership with the chapter.
Over the past 34 years the Carol Cohn and Margie Weil Memorial Golf Outing has raised nearly $9 million to support the National MS Society’s mission of creating a world free of MS.
