Volunteers - Keys to our success

The National MS Society is the largest voluntary MS organization in the world with over one million volunteers. Volunteers make a difference in the fight against MS and in the success of the Indiana State Chapter. Listed below are opportunities for you to become part of our team! Volunteer Coordinator Position
This position supports the mission of the National MS Society by mobilizing the resources and talents of people who want to do something about multiple sclerosis NOW. As a central contact person for volunteers and staff regarding different volunteer topics, the Volunteer Coordinator has an overview of current volunteer projects and coordinates the appropriate activities. MS Ambassadors
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Indiana State Chapter is currently recruiting volunteers throughout Indiana who are dedicated to ending the devastating effects of MS. We are seeking individuals to join and exciting program called the MS Ambassador Program. Ambassadors for the Society may include people living with MS, their family and friends, and others committed to the fight against MS.

Ambassadors assist the Society by increasing public awareness of the Chapter's efforts to end MS as well as Chapter programs designed to support people whose lives are touched by it. Ambassadors volunteer their time and talents to the Society by:

  • Presenting to community groups
  • Presenting to potential Society sponsors
  • Serving as spokespersons to the media
  • Participating in health fairs
  • Serving as self-help group liaisons

Events
Ideal for volunteers who aren't afraid to jump in, work hard and have fun! Assists with planning and logistics of Special Events, such as MS Walks, the MS Bike Tour, and Women Against MS Luncheons. Serves by being on a committee and focusing on developing strong relationships with the community and raising money to find a cure for MS.

TeamMS
Ideal for volunteers who enjoy teamwork and want to spread the word! Recruits and develops relationships with the corporate and social communities throughout the area to increase participation and fundraising initiatives for events.

Leadership
Ideal for volunteers who are talented at cultivating key community relationships! Assist with leadership, special gifts and donor cultivation campaigns.

Programs
Ideal for volunteers who understand how empowering programs are to people affected by MS! Assists and collaborates in the identification of potential underwriting and funding sources to support Chapter programs.

Finance
Ideal for volunteers who have a knack for crunching numbers! Evaluates and implements procedures to ensure strict Chapter financial controls and reassess investment opportunities within the Chapter area, ensuring that National guidelines are enforced.

Public Relations & Marketing
Ideal for media savvy volunteers who understand how to get the word out! Develops and implements a comprehensive public relations plan to promote all chapter activities and increase awareness of the chapter and the disease in the 92 county area.

Government Relations
Ideal for volunteers who understand and thrive in the political arena! Identifies legislative issues that are important to persons with MS and approaches advocacy by preparing an advocacy plan to influence public policy to benefit persons with MS.

Administrative Volunteers
Ideal for volunteers who have precious time to donate Monday - Friday! Uses clerical, organizational, and administrative skills in a friendly and supportive environment with all types of office work.
