Marketing and Communications Manager

Description The Mid America Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is seeking a Marketing and Communications Manager to oversee all marketing and public relations activities for the chapter.

Responsibilities

  1. Marketing and Recruitment: Develops and implements a proactive Chapter wide annual marketing plan for promoting participation in special events and community programs. Duties to include development of the entire plan, adhering to the timeline of the plan, direct mail pieces and campaigns, telemarketing management (including script development), brochure development, mass distribution, electronic efforts (e-news flash, e-cards, etc) and social media opportunities.
  2. Analysis and Planning: Analyzes internal and external trends, demographics and competitions for use in development of event plans and strategies for current and potential campaigns.
  3. Media and Public Relations: Develops and sees to the implementation of a proactive Chapter-wide communications plan. Enhances relationships with local media, ensuring good news coverage. Oversees the chapter’s media buy and cultivates these media relationships.
  4. Internet: Oversees the management of the Chapter’s web page and Convio fundraising database, Work with Database Marketing Specialist, Director of Development, Walk MS Manager and Bike MS Manager to ensure thorough, accurate and timely information is available through the chapter’s web page. Research, develop and implements a proactive internet marketing plan to include E-mail campaigns and electronic newsletters, which are linked to Convio, Flash cards, on-line registration incentives, on-line newsletters and event updates.
  5. Publications: Works with chapter management team to produce the annual report, the MS Connection, and ensure all publications are professionally produced and delivered in a timely manner. Works with appropriate staff and volunteers to develop themes and articles.
  6. Image/Branding: Coordinate Chapter branding project and ensures appropriate logo usage and image consistency.
  7. Spokesperson: Serves as spokesperson for the Chapter as appropriate and identify other spokes persons on key topics.
  8. Other: Promotion of the MS Mission: Is knowledgeable about MS and the programs, services and events of the Chapter. Incorporates information about MS and Chapter programs as appropriate in all publications, materials and activities. Demonstrates initiative, enthusiasm and willingness and works collaboratively with the Director of Development and other development and programs staff to achieve the overall goals and objectives for the Chapter. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Qualified candidates would hold a bachelors degree. Minimum three years of progressive work experience in marketing, planning, strategic development, fundraising and special event coordination or a related field. Applicants must have strong oral and written communication skills and ability to serve as chapter’s primary liaison to the community. Ability to effectively work on complex projects simultaneously. Ability to prioritize and delegate well. Strong organizational and planning skills, detail-orientated and able to work independently. Ability to effectively lead and manage staff and volunteers. Willingness and ability to work outside standard business hours when required by workload, events, etc.

Donor Relations Manager

Description The Mid America Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is seeking a Donor Relations Manager Part-time.

Responsiblities This position manages a comprehensive major gift planning program that includes the National Direct mail program, individual, major and planned gifts and the Golden Circle Campaign. This includes donor recognition and cultivation activities and extensive donor relationship building activities.

In addition, this individual managers the Dinner of Champions Campaign. Smaller campaigns include United Way/Community Health Charities and the board and staff appeal.

Develops plans, budgets and activities to meet short and long term goals and objectives for all campaigns. Produces reports on campaign progress to Chapter Leadership on a regular basis. Completes and reports analysis of campaigns to Chapter leadership and national major gift staff as needed. Prepares grant reports and tracking as required.

Develops a solid volunteer management plan to help reach fundraising campaign goals. Recruits, trains, manages, motivates, rewards and builds strong partnerships with support persons including event and donor volunteers, committees, interns and in-house volunteers. Supervises all Golden Circle chairs and committees. Recruits high-level volunteers to implement key initiatives in the strategic plan of the Chapter.

Qualifications

  • Three or more years of demonstrated, successful experience in major gift and/or deferred gift fund raising including direct solicitation of gifts
  • Experience in planning events and adhering to project management timelines, thus excelling at coordinating multiple deadline driven tasks.
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possesses relationship building and presentation skills in one-on-one and small group settings
  • Possesses high-level of customer service experience
  • Demonstrated marketing experience
  • Experience with engaging and managing volunteers.
  • Able to understand target audience, their needs, concerns and gift-giving options
  • Must have access to personal transportation with insurance and the ability and willingness to travel within the chapter on a regular basis. Occasional travel to national meetings and trainings required.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated and results-oriented as well as a team player and be able to interact tactfully with donors and gain the respect of the professional community.

Community Development Manager

Description The Mid America Chapter of the National MS Society is seeking a Community Development Manager for our Eastern Kansas Region.

Responsiblities The Community Development Manager is responsible for mobilizing communities throughout Kansas by developing and cultivating relationships with community leaders, healthcare professionals, corporations and MS Society constituents.

This position is also responsible for volunteer engagement by recruiting and maintaining a diverse volunteer work force that will bring a variety of perspectives, backgrounds and resources to the Society.

In addition, this position plays a key role in programs delivery and fundraising efforts in the Eastern Kansas region, including BIKE MS and WALK MS.

Qualifications Min. three years progressive work experiences in fundraising, program development, sales or related field. Strong organizational and planning skills, detail oriented and able to work well with a team and independently. Experience in working with volunteers and community leaders.

Development Manager

Description The Mid America Chapter of the National MS Society is seeking a Development Manager. This position provides event support to the Director of Development and coordinates all issues and logistics regarding mass marketing fundraising events. As a component of the Walk events, this staff member handles all major event details including but not limited to route planning, logistical issues and other miscellaneous duties.

Responsiblities 

  1. Walk MS Management and logistics: Work with the Dir. of Development to build strategies to reach overall fundraising goal for Walk MS. Takes primary responsibility for event planning associated with Walk MS, following the guidelines outlined in the plan. Primary lead on all cash and in-kind sponsorships for Walk MS in Kansas City area. Ensure quality coordination of chapter-wide efforts, such as material development, prize ordering and fulfillment, invoicing, day-of-event procedures, national orders, and the like. Ensure up-to-date, thorough and accurate documentation is in place on all these activities.
  2. Budgeting/Planning: Manages the mass-market Walk MS budget, including file maintenance, assistance with year-end forecasts and facilitating year-end accruals. Works with other members of the development team to ensure thorough and proper adherence to the budget/PO/forecasting system and procedures.
  3. Staff Management: Oversee all other aspects of the Development Coordinator workload, effectively delegating key logistic projects and ensuring their quality execution.
  4. Event Support for chapter mass market events: Support logistical aspects of Bike MS in Eastern Kansas Region in conjunction with other staff. Manages a caseload of Bike MS teams and top fundraisers to ensure fundraising goals are reached.

Qualifications Min. three years progressive work experiences in fundraising, program development, sales or related field. Strong organizational and planning skills, detail oriented and able to work well with a team and independently. Experience working with volunteers.
