The National MS Society, Kentucky-Southeast Indiana Chapter Teams Up with Local Businesses to Present Ramp It Up for MS!
The Kentucky-Southeast Indiana Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society has teamed up with local businesses to RAMP IT UP! Gould’s Discount Medical and MAC Construction are volunteering their services to build brand new ramps for people living with MS in the Louisville area.
The National MS Society is a collective of passionate individuals who want to do something about MS now—to move together toward a world free of MS. The Kentucky Southeast Indiana Chapter serves 108 counties in Kentucky, as well as Clark and Floyd counties in Indiana. In our territory, over 4,900 people are diagnosed with MS.
The Society helps people affected by MS by funding cutting-edge research, driving change through advocacy, facilitating professional education, and providing programs and services that help people with MS and their families move their lives forward. To create a world free of MS, we must discover the cause, increase treatment options, and most importantly, find a cure.
MS is a debilitating disease that causes entering and exiting the home to be extremely troublesome when using a mobility device. Much needed ramps are a luxury many cannot afford running upwards of ten-thousand dollars. Vic and Jeannie Unruh, owners of MAC construction have served the local MS community for over a decade. “Teaming up with Gould’s Discount Medical seemed like a no-brainer and they were more than happy to volunteer for this truly groundbreaking endeavor,” said Vic Unruh. Stacy Funk, Chapter President states, “This is a great opportunity for the community to come together and volunteer alongside the two generous companies donating their time and materials to really change someone’s life forever.”
Ramp it up for MS is now accepting applications from anyone who is living with MS within 60-miles of Louisville, KY. Applicants will be assessed based on need and building accessibility. To have an application sent to your home, please call 1-800-FIGHT MS (1-800-344-4867) or download your application here. All Applications must be received by February 25, 2013.
