When a person with MS needs a home modification, eligibility for assistance must be determined. The individual must be registered with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Louisiana Chapter. A financial application form must be filled out, and include a confirmation of their diagnosis from a neurologist. The individual also must have a doctor’s prescription, and a financial assistance forms.
Some types of home modifications:
- Grab bars
- Widening of doors
- Lowering or raising a sink, vanity or countertop
- Modifying a bath or shower
- Ramps or lifts
- Repair or installation of railings
