National MS Home Advocacy Page
Part of the mission of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is to advocate for the rights of people with MS. Advocacy can mean voicing concerns or providing awareness. We believe that when the members of the MS Society work together, we can enhance services, preserve the independence, and protect the rights of people with MS in our area
We encourage you to join us and raise your voice to demand consideration on behalf of the MS community. Help us safeguard fair medical coverage and funding for research, protect disability rights and ensure that all public spaces are accessible no matter what your physical limitations are.
By working with policymakers, encouraging people to communicate with lawmakers, and nurturing respect for people who must confront MS, we can make a difference. Learn about our 2009 priorities for the state of Louisiana.
When you are encouraged to communicate, excited about a mission, and are able to visit with your local policymakers a difference has and will continue to be made. Talking With Your Legislators and keeping them informed of current issues are Keys to a Successful Visit.
- Like each year the Louisiana Chapter participated in the MS Society Public Policy Conference. This was an opportunity for staff and volunteers to advocate on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. They met with local and state representatives in hope to create change for those living with multiple sclerosis. Attached is a letter by a Louisiana Chapter volunteer who was a part of the 2009 Conference.
The Chapter welcomes you to volunteer your time and knowledge in this effort by becoming a member of the Action Network. Visit the Volunteer Opportunities page to learn more, or call 504-832-4013 to be an advocate and help us move one step closer to a world free of MS.
