Ride the Vineyard
Spend a day on quaint Martha’s Vineyard! Choose one of three fun routes: the 100K, 50K, or 25K.
25th Cape Cod Getaway
Saturday-Sunday, June 27-28
2 days, 150 miles. This is our largest ride of the season. Cyclists leave Marina Bay on Saturday and arrive in P’town Sunday with a ferry ride back to Boston.

2008 MS Challenge Walk, A Success!
September 5-7, 2008
1,000 people worked together to raise over $1.4 million during a weekend that offered two evenings of fun and camaraderie, an exhibitors expo, post-walk massage, and 50 miles of walking on beautiful Cape Cod. With an Olympic theme as inspiration, participants took on the challenge with smiles and paraded triumphantly onto the Hyannis Village Green for closing ceremonies on Sunday.

Designate the National MS Society in your employee giving campaign
Every year, over 1.5 million employees support important non-profit organizations nationwide through employee giving campaigns. If you are a federal government employee, or if your private employer offers a charitable giving campaign, you can help move us closer to a world free of MS by designating a contribution to the National MS Society.
Most charitable giving programs offer employees the opportunity to make an annual pledge with specific amounts automatically deducted from each paycheck. Donations can also be made as a one-time contribution by writing a personal check. When you choose the National MS Society your donation comes directly to our chapter.
If your company doesn’t offer an employee giving program? Talk to your benefits administrator about starting one. And call us. We can give you the resources you need.
Participating in a charitable giving program is an easy way to help provide vital services, spark public policy advocacy, and fund cutting-edge research.
Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)
If you work in the public sector or you are in the military, contributions can be made through the CFC by selecting the designation number 11409. If you work in the private sector, look for us under Community Health Charities or ask your campaign coordinator about designating a gift to the Society.
Fashion Plates
In its fourth consecutive year, Fashion Plates again celebrated “Real Women, Real Stories.” Fifteen women with MS glided down the runway donning Lord & Taylor and Jones New York fashions. Their stories were told as they modeled this year’s fall and holiday fashions. Lord & Taylor also provided gift bags to all the attendees. Profiles of women who have MS were featured on every table and their pictures projected on screens as guests arrived in the ballroom. The Raffle Baskets valued between $1,000 and $2,000 were the hot commodity as the attendees put in their chance to win indulgences, trips and much more. Over 300 attendees were treated to a scrumptious lunch by the Seaport Hotel. Liz Brunner, WCVB-TV5 anchorwoman, was the Master of Ceremonies. Special thanks to our Presenting Sponsors, the Seaport, Lord & Taylor and Jones New York, who produced an amazing afternoon for one and all.
Community Fundraising
15th annual golf tournament - September 15, 2008
Bob Keeley and staff and clients of Diversified Project Management held their 15th annual golf tournament to benefit the Society at the Hopkinton Country Club. The large gathering of golfers included a fellow who also happens to participate in the MS Challenge Walk. The wind was almost as challenging as the course, but the players had a great time, and were happy to help Bob and Diversified Project Management move toward a world free of MS by raising over $44,000.

A check was presented by the Boston College Field Hockey Team on October 12, 2008 during one of their home games. The team raised over $1,500 by selling bracelets, ribbons and armbands in honor of Kathleen Murphy, their teammate who has MS. BC won the game 2-1. |
Wine & Dine for MS Dinner & Auction
The largest crowd yet filled the Boston Harbor Hotel Wharf Room on a balmy October evening for the third annual Wine & Dine for MS Dinner & Auction. Participants enjoyed music by the Winiker Band, a reception and four-course wine dinner by illustrious chef Daniel Bruce of Meritage and live and silent auctions. Brian and Rosalyn Moore, Ralph and Harriet Kaplan and Vincent Monaco of sponsor Kappy’s Fine Wine & Spirits were all in attendance along with table sponsors Commonwealth Wine & Spirits, The Martignetti Companies, Horizon Beverage and Ruby Wines. They provided many of the auction items, including tours, tastings and overnight stays at premium vineyards and many large format and hard to find wines. A group from Select Sponsor American Airlines was also in attendance. Domestic airfare on American Airlines was included in the most successful auction lots.
Chapter Chairman Daniel Rattner and Wine & Dine Committee Chairman Cathy MacPherson shared emcee duties. Robert W.A. Sleigh, Vice President and Head of Sotheby’s New York Wine Department, volunteered his services for the live auction, which also included special bottles from donors’ private cellars. Harvard Sweet Boutique provided all attendees with a box of their increasingly famous homemade cookies. EMD Serono, Wells Fargo, Collaborative Consulting of Burlington and the R. J. Kelly Company sponsored tables. In all, Wine & Dine for MS Dinner & Auction has raised nearly $400,000. Event coordinator Dale Blank reports that work for 2009 began right after this year’s event; anyone interested in donating should contact the Chapter office.
