• Part-time Community Development Manager to be based in Wicomico County

As the Community Development Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing fundraising, marketing, advocacy and client programs in Wicomico, Worcester and Somerset Counties for people with multiple sclerosis (MS), their family members, event participants, donors and the general public. The position reports directly to the Development Director and will work closely with several volunteer committees. Specific responsibilities include:  managing all aspects of Walk MS in Ocean City; recruiting participants, volunteers, and sponsors for the Bike MS & Challenge Walk MS Chesapeake Challenge event; developing productive relationships with healthcare professionals, business and government leaders, volunteers and media partners to increase awareness of MS and engage others in our mission; communicating critical information about research updates, programs, services and public policy positions to clients in the three County area, and encouraging their active involvement in Chapter initiatives; identifying and cultivating relationships with local service providers; and planning a minimum of four client programs annually in the three County area.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Non-Profit Management or some similar field. Equivalent education and experience may be substituted for degree.
  • Must reside in Salisbury or Wicomico County and have a good understanding of the local community.
  • Proven experience in fundraising or marketing required. Event management and/or project management experience preferred.
  • Experience with recruiting, training and supervising volunteers.
  • Excellent communication skills and organizational skills, including public speaking skills. Prior experience with media relations helpful.
  • Ability to work independently from a home office and manage time without direct supervision necessary.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have the ability to quickly learn new databases.
